Microids Announces Syberia Remaster After 23 Years – A Stunning Comeback of a Point & Click Classic

Earlier today, Microids surprised the gaming world by revealing a full remaster of the legendary adventure game Syberia, which originally launched in 2002. The announcement came out of nowhere, catching fans off guard—but it instantly sparked excitement, especially among players who still remember the game’s unique tone and story.

The original game was developed almost entirely by one person — Benoît Sokal, a visionary artist and game designer. Despite its small-scale development, Syberia went on to become one of the most critically praised adventure titles of the early 2000s, mainly thanks to its immersive world and its blend of mystery and European-style storytelling.

Syberia belongs to the Point & Click genre, which is rare these days. Unlike modern games with free movement and dynamic action, Point & Click relies on exploration through interactive environments, puzzle-solving, and careful observation. That format gave Syberia a slower, more atmospheric feel that suited its narrative.

Now in 2025, Microids is bringing the game back with a fully modernized remaster featuring upgraded visuals, better character models, and enhanced environmental design. Most importantly, they are completely redesigning the control scheme to support modern consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, along with PC.

The story follows Kate Walker, a lawyer on a simple legal assignment that evolves into a surreal journey across Europe. She’s joined by a mechanical companion named Oscar, and together they uncover the secrets of a mysterious island known as Syberia.

This remaster isn’t just for nostalgia—it’s a gateway for new players to experience a legendary title in a modern package. It’s especially relevant after the 2022 sequel, which introduced new characters and extended the universe.

Microids confirmed that the game will launch in Q4 2025, with availability on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. No release date was given yet, but fans are eager to see how the updated visuals and controls will elevate the experience without losing the original’s charm.
