New Fan Theory Suggests Leon Becomes Villain in Resident Evil: Requiem
A fresh theory making rounds in the Resident Evil fan community proposes something unexpected: the beloved protagonist Leon S. Kennedy might take on a villainous role in the upcoming Resident Evil: Requiem. This speculation stems from a few pieces of circumstantial evidence that have caught the attention of players and devoted followers of the series.
The spark came from an old leaked image showing Leon wearing an eye patch. While some dismiss the image as fan art or creative editing, many mark the eye patch similarity as suspicious—especially after tracking down an old social media post from Leon’s voice actor, Nick Apostolidis. In that post, supposedly written over a year ago, Apostolidis used the phrase “the good cop vs. the bad cop.” Fans believe that this echoes the eye patch motif, suggesting Leon could be crossing a line—or at least appearing in a more morally grey capacity.
Adding more fuel to the speculation is the timeline that Resident Evil: Requiem may cover: years 2020 and 2028. Given those dates, Leon would be around 41-42 years old in 2020 and about 49-50 in 2028. Some interpret this as pointing to a character arc that shifts over time—possibly toward something more sinister.
Not everyone is convinced, though. Critics of the theory point out that eye patches often signify injury or disguise—not necessarily evil intentions. There’s also concern that any dramatic change to Leon’s character should be grounded in strong storytelling rather than fan speculation. Resident Evil has a history of surprises, but turning a long-standing hero into an outright villain is a big narrative risk.
Currently, Capcom has not commented on these rumors. With Resident Evil: Requiem expected to make waves at the Tokyo Game Show 2025 under Sony’s space, fans will be watching closely for official confirmations or denials. Until then, the theory continues to stir interest and debate in the community.
