Games with Arabic language

Arabic support in games has improved a great deal, but it is still inconsistent — and worse, it varies between editions of the same game. This guide is about checking reliably rather than guessing.

The three levels of support

Arabic subtitles and menus. The most common. Text is translated; the voices stay in the original language. For most single-player games this is enough to follow everything.

Full Arabic dubbing. Voices recorded in Arabic. Much rarer, and mostly found in the largest releases and in football titles, where Arabic commentary has been standard for years.

Interface only. Menus translated but not subtitles. Uncommon, and frustrating in a story-heavy game — worth checking for specifically rather than assuming.

How to check before you buy

For a digital game: open the store page and scroll to the language section. PlayStation Store, Xbox and Steam all list supported languages, usually separating interface, subtitles and audio. This is the most reliable check there is.

One trap: the store page you are reading is the one for your account region. A game may list Arabic in a Middle East store and not in another. Check on the store your account actually uses.

For a physical copy: the back of the box lists supported languages, and regional editions often say so on the front. An "Arabic Edition" on the cover is a real distinction, not decoration — it usually means Arabic was added specifically for this release.

Where Arabic is most likely

Support is most common in three places: football and sports titles, where Arabic commentary is well established; large first-party PlayStation releases, which have carried Arabic subtitles for several years; and major annual franchises with a large regional audience.

It is least common in smaller independent games, in Japanese titles outside the biggest franchises, and in older games from before Arabic localisation became standard.

Because this changes with every release, treat the above as where to look first, not as a list — and check the store page for the specific title and edition.

Two things that catch people out

Editions differ. The same game can have Arabic in the regional edition and not in an imported one. If a copy is noticeably cheaper than others, the language list is the first thing to check.

Arabic can arrive later. Some games add Arabic in a post-launch update. If a title you want lacks it at release, it is worth checking again later rather than writing it off.

Buying with confidence
