Final Fantasy VII Revelation Reveals Highwind Exploration, Playable Vincent, and Massive Open-World Features

Square Enix has shared exciting new details about Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the highly anticipated conclusion to the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy. Scheduled for release in Spring 2027, the game is shaping up to be the most ambitious entry in the series yet, bringing large-scale exploration, expanded gameplay systems, and beloved characters back into the spotlight.

One of the biggest highlights is the return of the legendary Highwind airship. Players will be able to freely pilot the iconic vessel across the game's vast open world, opening up unprecedented levels of exploration throughout the planet.

Seamless Open-World Exploration

In a major leap forward for the trilogy, players will be able to jump directly from the Highwind and parachute into virtually any region of the world without loading screens. This seamless transition between aerial travel and ground exploration aims to create a more immersive and dynamic adventure than ever before.

The game will also revisit numerous iconic locations from the original Final Fantasy VII, including the fan-favorite nation of Wutai. These areas are expected to feature expanded environments, new story content, and deeper world-building opportunities.

Enhanced Combat and New Playable Heroes

Square Enix has confirmed that the combat system has undergone further refinements following feedback from the previous two entries. The goal is to deliver a smoother and more strategic blend of action and command-based combat.

Fan-favorite character Vincent Valentine will finally become fully playable, giving players direct control over one of the most beloved members of the Final Fantasy VII universe. Additionally, Cid Highwind will officially join the party, bringing his unique combat style and personality to the adventure.

Battles Against Planet-Born Giants

Another major addition is the introduction of gigantic creatures described as beings born from the Planet itself. These colossal encounters are expected to deliver some of the most spectacular battles seen in the trilogy, pushing both gameplay and storytelling to new heights.

According to director Naoki Hamaguchi, the game is already fully playable from a technical standpoint. However, the development team remains focused on polishing, balancing, and optimizing the experience ahead of launch to ensure the highest possible quality.

A Historic Investment in the Trilogy

Alongside the gameplay reveals, reports indicate that the combined development and marketing budget for the entire Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy is expected to reach approximately $500 million. This enormous investment highlights Square Enix's commitment to delivering one of the most ambitious RPG projects in gaming history.

With seamless exploration, expanded combat systems, legendary characters, and a world larger than ever before, Final Fantasy VII Revelation is positioned to deliver an epic conclusion to one of gaming's most iconic stories.
