New Uncharted Game Reportedly in Development at Naughty Dog, With Nathan Drake Set to Return

It looks like the world of Uncharted may finally be preparing for a comeback.

New reports from MP1st and VGC claim that Naughty Dog is currently developing a brand-new Uncharted game, marking a potential return for one of PlayStation’s most iconic franchises after years of silence.

The project has not yet been officially announced by Sony or Naughty Dog, but VGC says it was able to partially corroborate MP1st’s original report through its own sources.

Nathan Drake Is Reportedly Returning

According to MP1st, Nathan Drake will appear in the new game in some capacity, although his exact role remains unclear.

The report does not confirm whether Drake will once again serve as the main protagonist, appear as a supporting character, or simply make a smaller cameo.

That uncertainty has naturally led to speculation about the future direction of the series, especially after Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End gave Nathan’s story a clear sense of closure.

Could Cassie Drake Take a Bigger Role?

Another possibility being discussed is Cassie Drake, the daughter of Nathan Drake and Elena Fisher.

Uncharted 4’s epilogue introduced Cassie and left the door open for a new generation of adventures, which has led many fans to believe she could eventually become an important character in the franchise.

However, it is important to note that Cassie’s involvement has not been confirmed. MP1st itself framed the idea as a possibility rather than information directly established by its sources.

Shaun Escayg Reportedly Leads the Project

The new Uncharted game is reportedly being directed by Shaun Escayg, a familiar name to fans of the series.

Escayg previously served as director on Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, the 2017 standalone adventure starring Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross.

His reported return to lead another Uncharted project has generated additional excitement, particularly because The Lost Legacy was widely praised for proving that the franchise could successfully tell stories without Nathan Drake as its sole lead.

Expected After Intergalactic

The reports also claim that the new Uncharted title is expected to be Naughty Dog’s next release after Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

Intergalactic remains the studio’s officially announced priority, meaning any new Uncharted game is likely still some distance away.

There is currently no confirmed release date, platforms, official title, or reveal window for the rumored project.

Uncharted Could Finally Be Returning

If the reports prove accurate, this would mark Naughty Dog’s first entirely new Uncharted project since Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in 2017.

The possibility of Nathan Drake returning, combined with the potential introduction of a new lead character and Shaun Escayg’s involvement, suggests the studio could be preparing a new chapter rather than simply repeating what came before.

For now, however, the key point remains that Sony and Naughty Dog have not officially announced the game, so all details should still be treated as unconfirmed reporting until the studio speaks publicly.
