After years of anticipation, the GTA 6 release date is finally just one month away. Rockstar Games has officially scheduled Grand Theft Auto VI for November 19, 2026, bringing its return to Vice City closer than ever. The wait has been long, and the expectations are enormous. Now, with October 19 marking the final calendar month before launch, the countdown has reached its most exciting stage.
One month until Vice City
After years of waiting, Grand Theft Auto VI is entering its final month before launch.
This moment carries extra weight because Rockstar previously moved the release date to allow more development time. In its November 2025 announcement, the studio explained that the additional months would help achieve the level of polish expected from its games. That decision extended an already lengthy wait. But the company has continued presenting new material, including a fresh Launch Trailer released on October 15, 2026.
- 6 November 2025 The release date changes Rockstar officially moves the launch to November 19, 2026, citing additional development and polish.
- 24 June 2026 Pre-order details announced Rockstar publishes its plans for the game's upcoming release and editions.
- 15 October 2026 Launch Trailer arrives Rockstar publishes the official launch trailer with new music.
- 19 October 2026 One month remains The game is one calendar month from its scheduled release.
- 19 November 2026 Official launch Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to arrive on the announced console platforms.
The world awaiting players
Grand Theft Auto VI takes players to Leonida, a fictional state that includes the neon-lit streets of Vice City and locations beyond it. At the center are Jason and Lucia, whose attempt at an easy score leads them into a dangerous criminal conspiracy. Rockstar is building its new adventure around their relationship and the trouble spreading across the state. The setting is familiar in name, but the story introduces a new pair of protagonists.
- Return to Vice City Explore Rockstar's modern interpretation of its famous fictional city within Leonida.
- Jason and Lucia Follow two protagonists whose lives become intertwined in a dangerous criminal conspiracy.
- A New Generation Rockstar is bringing this chapter to the current generation of announced console platforms.
- A Broader Setting The story extends beyond Vice City into other locations throughout the state of Leonida.

The final stretch
The final month brings a different kind of anticipation. Players are no longer waiting for a distant year on a calendar; they are approaching a specific launch day. Rockstar has already presented extensive footage and a launch trailer, giving fans a clearer sense of the world awaiting them. Still, trailers cannot establish the quality of the complete experience. That judgment belongs to the finished game, and expectations should not be mistaken for results.
For me, the most exciting part is how close the date finally feels. GTA VI has been discussed for so long that seeing its launch just one month away feels like an event of its own.
The countdown for GTA 6 release date feels real
The coming weeks will bring the moment fans have spent years discussing: the chance to experience Rockstar's next Grand Theft Auto for themselves. Vice City is returning, Jason and Lucia are ready to lead the story, and the scheduled launch is finally close. Whether GTA VI lives up to its extraordinary expectations is a question only the game can answer. But one thing is undeniable: the wait now feels very different.
