About the game
Stranger Than Heaven - Xbox Series X|S
A Fifty-Year Journey Across a Changing Japan
Stranger Than Heaven is an ambitious action-adventure from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio following Makoto Daito through a fifty-year struggle to survive, find a home, and shape his own destiny.
Travel through multiple eras of Japan, survive brutal street fights, master an evolving arsenal of weapons, explore detailed cities, and experience Makoto's unexpected rise as a talented showman.
Follow Makoto Daito's Story
The journey begins in San Francisco in 1915. Orphaned and persecuted for his mixed American and Japanese heritage, young Makoto Daito risks everything to cross the Pacific and search for a place to belong in his mother's homeland.
5 Eras, 5 Cities
Experience a changing Japan across Kokura in 1915, Kure in 1929, Minami in 1943, Atami in 1951, and Shinjuku in 1965, with every city reflecting its own era, atmosphere, and conflicts.
Dynamic Street Combat
Take on brutal street battles through an evolving combat system that lets you independently control Makoto's left and right sides to attack, defend, counter, grapple, tackle, and unleash powerful combinations.
Master & Upgrade Weapons
Expand your combat options with a variety of weapons, including knives, hammers, katanas, and more. Weapons can be enhanced as Makoto fights his way through different eras of his life.
Live the Life of a Showman
Makoto's journey goes far beyond street fights. After his hidden musical talent is discovered, he steps into the role of a showman, recruiting skilled performers and producing entertainment across Japan.
Create Original Music
Collect sounds from the world around you and combine them to create original tracks, then arrange bands, choose performers, and prepare your own productions.
Produce Your Own Shows
Choose setlists, arrange the band, assign performers, and customize stage elements such as lighting and staging as Makoto rises from hardship to become a successful showman.
