How to redeem a PSN card on PS4
Step-by-step redemption of a PlayStation gift card on PS4, from the console, phone or browser, and why codes get rejected.
Redeeming a PlayStation code on PS4 takes well under a minute. The funds land on your account, not on the console, which means any method gets you to the same place — and it also means the account you are signed in to is the thing that matters most.
Before you start: check the region
A PlayStation code only works on an account registered to the same region as the card. A UAE card needs a UAE account; a US card needs a US account. The region is set when the account is created and cannot be changed later, and once funds are loaded they cannot be moved to another account. Confirm the match before you enter anything — this single check prevents almost every redemption problem we see.
Also check the length. A PlayStation gift card code is 12 characters. A 10-character code is a discount code, not a wallet card, and it is entered at checkout rather than in the redeem screen.
Redeeming on the PS4 itself
- Turn on the PS4 and make sure you are signed in with the account the funds should go to.
- Open the PlayStation Store from the home screen.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the left-hand sidebar.
- Select Redeem Codes.
- Enter the 12-character code carefully and select Redeem.
- Confirm. The credit or content is applied to your account straight away.
If the code was for a game or DLC rather than wallet funds, it appears in your library and you can start the download from there.
Redeeming from your phone
Often easier, because the code is already in your email or SMS on that phone and you can copy and paste rather than typing it on the console keyboard. Open the PlayStation App, confirm you are on the right account, tap the PlayStation Store icon, open the menu and choose Redeem Codes. Enter the code and confirm. The PS4 does not need to be switched on.
Redeeming in a browser
Go to store.playstation.com, sign in with the account you want credited, click your avatar at the top right, and select Redeem Codes. Enter the code and confirm.
Does it matter whether I use a PS4 or a PS5?
No. The code applies to your account, so it makes no practical difference which console you enter it on — or whether you use a console at all. If you own both, redeem wherever is convenient. A cross-generation game voucher will offer the right version for whichever console you install it on.
Where is my balance?
On PS4: Settings > Account Management > Account Information > Wallet. In a browser, sign in at store.playstation.com and the balance appears in your profile area. PlayStation wallet funds do not expire, so there is no rush to spend them.
Why is my code rejected?
- Region mismatch between the card and the account — by far the most common cause.
- A typo: zero against the letter O, one against the letter I. Paste rather than type.
- Already used. Check your transaction history; the funds may already be on the account.
- Wrong code type — a 10-character discount code in the redeem screen will always fail.
If none of those explain it, contact our support team on any of our social channels with a screenshot of the error and a screenshot of your transaction history. We check it against our records. If the code is faulty on our side, we replace or refund it.
Buying from Games 2 Egypt
Our PlayStation cards are digital. After payment the code is issued automatically and arrives by email, SMS and in the Games 2 Egypt app, usually within moments; if a technical delay occurs it is normally cleared within one to two hours. Not sure which region you need? Call 16280 or message 01284316280 on WhatsApp before you buy.
