How to redeem a PSN card on PS5

Two ways to redeem a PlayStation gift card on PS5, plus how to do it from your phone or a browser, where to check your wallet, and why codes get rejected.

Updated

You bought a PlayStation card from us, the code arrived by email, SMS and in the app — now you need to load it onto your account. On PS5 there are two routes, and both take under a minute. This guide covers both, plus the phone and browser methods, and the reasons a code gets rejected.

Before you start: check the region

A PlayStation code only works on an account registered to the same region as the card. A UAE card needs a UAE account, a US card needs a US account. The account region is fixed when the account is created and cannot be changed afterwards, and wallet funds cannot be transferred between accounts. So before you enter anything, confirm that the region on the card you bought matches the account you are signed in with. If you are unsure, message us on WhatsApp at 01284316280 before redeeming — once a code is used on the wrong account, it cannot be undone.

One more thing worth knowing: a PlayStation gift card code is 12 characters. If your code is 10 characters, it is a discount code, not a wallet card, and it is entered at checkout instead — not in the redeem screen.

Method 1 — from PS5 Settings

  1. Turn on your PS5 and make sure you are signed in with the account the funds should go to.
  2. Open Settings (the gear icon at the top right of the home screen).
  3. Select Users and Accounts.
  4. Select Account, then Payment and Subscriptions.
  5. Select Redeem Codes.
  6. Enter the 12-character code and select Redeem.
  7. Confirm. The balance is added to your wallet immediately.

Method 2 — from the PlayStation Store

  1. From the PS5 home screen, open the PlayStation Store.
  2. Select your profile picture in the top-right corner of the store.
  3. Choose Redeem Codes.
  4. Enter the 12-character code and confirm.

Both methods do exactly the same thing. Use whichever is fewer button presses for you.

Can I redeem a PSN code from my phone?

Yes, and it is often the easiest way, because the code is already sitting in your email or SMS on that same phone — you can copy and paste it instead of typing it on the console keyboard. Open the PlayStation App, make sure you are signed in to the right account, tap the PlayStation Store icon, open the menu, and select Redeem Codes. Enter the code and confirm. The console does not need to be switched on at all; the funds land on your account, not on the hardware.

Can I redeem a PSN code on the PlayStation website?

Yes. Open store.playstation.com in any browser, sign in with the account you want the funds on, click your avatar at the top right, and select Redeem Codes. Enter the code and confirm. This is useful when you are away from home or want to load a card the moment it arrives.

All four routes — Settings, Store, app and browser — credit the same account in real time. If a code fails on one of them, it will fail on all of them, because the problem is with the code or the account, not the device.

Where do I see my wallet balance after redeeming?

On PS5, go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions, and the current balance is shown there. On the web, sign in at store.playstation.com and your funds appear in the profile section. The balance stays on the account until you spend it — PlayStation wallet funds do not expire.

Why does my PSN code say it's invalid?

Four reasons cover almost every case:

  1. Region mismatch. The card region does not match the account region. This is the most common one by far.
  2. A typo. Zero and the letter O, one and the letter I, are the usual culprits. Copy and paste the code rather than typing it.
  3. Already redeemed. Check your transaction history on the account — if it was entered earlier, the funds are already there.
  4. Wrong code type. A 10-character discount code entered in the redeem screen will be rejected; it belongs at checkout.

If you have ruled all four out, contact our support team on any of our social media channels and send a screenshot of the error message along with a screenshot of your transaction or redemption history. We review it against our records and sort it out. If the code turns out to be faulty from our side, we replace or refund it.

Buying from Games 2 Egypt

Our PlayStation cards are digital: after payment the code is issued automatically and reaches you by email, SMS and in the Games 2 Egypt app, normally within moments. If anything technical delays it, it is usually resolved within one to two hours. You can also reach us on 16280 or on WhatsApp at 01284316280 if you want to confirm the right card region before you buy.
