Redeeming codes on Epic, EA app, Ubisoft Connect and Battle.net
Where to enter a code on each of the four main PC launchers, and what to check before you buy.
Steam is not the only PC store, and each launcher puts code redemption somewhere different. Here is where to look on each.
How do I redeem a code on the Epic Games Store?
In the Epic Games Launcher, sign in, select your profile icon at the top right, then Redeem Code. Enter the code and confirm.
You can also do it in a browser: sign in to the Epic Games Store website, open the account menu and use the redeem option there. The game appears in your library either way.
How do I redeem a code in the EA app?
Open the EA app, sign in, and look for Redeem Code in the account or menu section. Enter the code and confirm, and the game is added to your library.
Note that many EA games sold as PC keys actually register to your EA account and then launch through Steam or the EA app depending on where you bought them. If a key does not work in one, check whether it is meant for the other.
How do I activate a key on Ubisoft Connect?
In Ubisoft Connect, sign in, open the menu (usually the icon at the top left), and choose Activate a Key or Activate Product. Enter the key and confirm.
Ubisoft keys can also be activated on the Ubisoft website while signed in. Some Ubisoft titles bought elsewhere still require Ubisoft Connect to run, so having the account set up beforehand saves time.
How do I redeem a Battle.net code?
Sign in to Battle.net — in the desktop app or on the website — open your account settings and find the option to redeem a code or gift card. Enter it and confirm.
Battle.net handles two kinds: game keys that add a title to your account, and balance codes that add funds you can spend in the shop. They go to the same place but behave differently once redeemed.
What applies to all four
Check the account before you confirm. A key attaches permanently to whichever account redeems it. This is the mistake that cannot be undone.
Region restrictions exist here too. Some keys only activate on accounts in certain regions. The product page states it; the key itself does not.
Copy and paste rather than typing. These keys are long, and zero against the letter O is the usual cause of an "invalid key" message.
Check which launcher a key is for before buying. A key for one platform will not work on another, even for the same game.
If a key fails
Work through the usual causes: wrong launcher, region lock, a typo, or a key already used. If none of those explain it, contact our support team with a screenshot of the error and your account''s activation history, and we will check it against our records.
